LAFFITE SOCIETY OFFICERS

Message from the President
The Laffite Society is one of the premier historical societies in the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast region. The Society is a unique blend of scholarly history and social activities at a very affordable cost. We focus on Jean and Pierre Laffite and related topics of the region during the late 1700s and early 1800's. A number of serious and respected scholars belong to the Society and the presentations at our monthly meetings are top-notch. Programs may include the sailing ships, weapons, currency, Native American cultures, shipwrecks, and other topics of the period. Much of our research material is kept at the Jack K. Williams Library at Texas A&M University at Galveston where it is available for study. Most of our members are simply interested in history and we are far from stuffy. Our monthly meetings are round table discussions and occasional presentations. They are never boring! I hope you will accept my invitation to attend one of our meetings and consider joining the Laffite Society!
